Adobe has introduced a new Generative Expand feature in the beta version of Photoshop. The feature allows users to smoothly expand images with artificial intelligence using text prompts. In the latest update to the beta version of Photoshop released Thursday, Adobe has expanded the capabilities of Firefly's generative feature, giving users the ability to use artificial intelligence to expand photos beyond their original aspect ratio.

To use Generative Expand, select the Crop tool and set the desired aspect ratio of the image. Then the contextual taskbar appears, where you can use the Generative Fill and Generative Expand options.

The user can click the "Generate" button and leave the prompt field blank to fill the empty space with the generated content. If desired, the user can add a text hint to provide context for the generated content. The new content will be added to a new layer.

To use the new Generative Expand feature, users must upgrade to the beta version of Adobe Photoshop. Users must have an active Adobe Photoshop subscription to access the beta version.

The latest Adobe Photoshop beta update also adds support for text prompts in 100 languages.

The Generative Fill feature was introduced to the Photoshop application for beta users in May. The company plans to roll out the feature more widely in the second half of 2023.
